Staff have their own logins for Librarian. When they log in they see a unique library view.
Once logged in, staff can:
- View the catalogue
- Reserve a book for themselves
- View and approve book reviews for their registration group*
- Write / edit book reviews
- View the current loans of their registration group*
- View the overdue books for their registration group*
* Note: Staff can only see these particular views if they have been assigned to that registration group in the library system. The librarian can also adjust User Control Settings to enable staff to see everyone’s loans.
Librarians can also set staff up as staff librarians. These work like student librarians, with access to certain features covered in User Control Settings. They are different from system librarians.
The basic login method for staff is set up at the beginning of a library subscription. All staff are assigned a unique barcode in the system. They are also allocated a password based on a pattern. Staff log in using a combination of their barcode number and password. This login method remains the same even if staff are set as staff librarians (unless they have been set up as full system librarians instead).
Password pattern
The pattern for staff passwords is Site ID + s + First two initials first name and surname + password number
- s = label for staff
- Password numbers can be found on the Staff Details page (Users > Staff Details). These are automatically generated. The additional password numbers make staff passwords slightly more complex than student passwords.
Example: The Site ID is 123. A staff member called Ben Smith with a barcode of 67890 and a password number of 987654 would log in as follows: Enter barcode: 67890 Enter password: 123sBeSm987564

This process is also fully explained in the Welcome Pack that is sent to a school when we set up their library site.
